Houses for civil labourers: DC directs labour commissioner to take necessary measures

Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy has directed City Municipal Council Labour Commissioner Ramesh to identify a spot and take necessary measures to construct houses for 11 civil labourers under the ‘Pourakarmikara Griha Bhagya’ scheme. Earlier it was planned to build the houses for the labourers in Karnangeri village.

Presiding over the ‘Safai Karmachari’ and Manual Scavengers’ District Awareness Committee meet, at the DC office hall on Wednesday, June 26, Annies Kanmani Joy directed the officials concerned to take necessary measures to provide employment to educated children of the civil labourers under the ‘Ambedkar Development Corporation’ facility.

She collected information regarding the health check-up camps and the health facilities provided to the civil labourers who collect and sort wet and dry garbage.

The DC also directed the labour commissioner to enquire about the grievances faced by the civil labourers in rural areas and provide them with the necessary facilities.

District Superintendent of Police Dr. Suman D Pennekar, Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Bharathi, ITDP Officer Shivakumar, tahsildars, taluk panchayat executive officers and district administration officers were present in the meeting.
