Madikeri: The showers across Kodagu brought a smile on the face of farmers and relief to people from rising temperatures here on Tuesday, May 3.
Heavy showers also uprooted a few trees and some electric poles disrupting power supply.
In Suntikoppa, though farmers and villagers were happy with sudden showers, heavy wind caused damage to the trees consequently disrupting power. More than five electric poles were uprooted near Kechetti in Suntikoppa.
The uprooted trees also affected vehicular movement for two hours, causing loss of lakhs to CHESCOM. However, CHESCOM official Basavraj and staff along with police arrived to the spot and cleared the way.
There was some rainfall reported in pockets of Chikmagaluru.
Usually rains lash Kodagu region in March itself, but this time the farmers had to wait till May.
