Madikeri: Cauvery Thirthodhbava was celebrated on Wednesday, October 17 PM at Talacauvery, the origin of the river Cauvery and a holy place. Thousands of Kodavas participated in the celebrations and collected the holy water from the pond.
Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy was also present on the occasion and is the first CM to attend the event. According to myth, however, any head of state that visits the Talacauvery losses their power.
Speaking to the reporters, HDK said that Goddess Cauvery herself brought him to the holy place and that he doesn’t believe in superstitious.
Legend has it that, at the time of Thirthodhbava, the Goddess Cauvery herself emerges from the pond.
