Go to villages and address issues there: Sa Ra Mahesh to officials

Madikeri: “The government officials should visit the villages and come forward to solve the problems faced by the dwellers there. There should not be any water problem in any part of the district”, said Kodagu District In-charge Minister Sa Ra Mahesh.

Presiding over a meeting in the DC’s office to discuss the precautions in the wake of the fast approaching monsoon, he said that many sub committees had already been formed and nodal officers appointed to tackle any natural calamity in the district. The officers concerned have been instructed to strictly perform their duties.

The officers were asked not to be away from their jurisdiction citing the fast approaching monsoon except during any emergency, with the permission of the DC.

The district administration has already distributed compensation to those affected by last year’s natural disaster. However, compensation related to Jamma and Bane lands are yet to be settled for some families and they would get it soon, assured the minister.

The minister instructed the Municipal Commissioner to start building the retaining wall near the old private bus stand immediately.

Mahesh advised not to dig up any roads till the rainy season was over. He instructed all the departments of the district administration to complete their civil works before the commencement of the monsoon.

The minister told the PWD officials to speed up the construction of the retaining wall near the DC office building and promised an additional grant of Rs 2 Crore for its completion.

He told the Nirminthi Kendra engineers to improve the quality of their projects citing that he was receiving complaints regarding the quality of their work.

Deputy Commissioner Anees Kanmani Joy, SP Suman D Pennekar, Zilla Panchayat CEO K Lakshmi Priya, Additional DC P Shivaraju and other officials were present in the meeting.
