Madikeri: Former Mandya MP and renowned Kannada actress Ramya demanded Prime Minister Modi’s intervention in resolving Cauvery dispute considering the difficult situation arising out of deficient rain fall. She also sought changes in the Tribunal’s decisions with changing times and situations.
Talking to reporters after taking part in Theerthodhbhava Pooja at Talacauvery, she felt that the present situation is due to continuous environmental destruction and uncontrolled sand mining in river basin over the years.
She stressed on the need of environmental protection and assured of taking measures to implement water harvesting in Mandya district in the near future.
MLC Sunil Subramani rued over the losses to the tune of Rs 2500 crores during Cauvery violence .When Kodagu experiences heavy rainfall other districts and states benefit where as during drought the government should assist the district, he said.
MLCs from Mandya Srikantegowda and Appajigowda offered full support for the development of Kodagu district by working in union with elected representatives from the district.
Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan hoped in the change of fortunes for the entire state and its people because of Cauvery Theethodhbhava which occurred in the early morning hours on October 17.
