Forest officials say that the carcass of the 15 days old calf was found in the lake in the Reserve Forest.

Somwarpet Assistant Forest Conservator Nehru, Kushalnagar Zone Forest Officer Arun and sub zone Forest Officer Ranjan visited the spot, assessed the situation and arranged for the calf’s funeral rituals.

Forest Officer Arun has opined that the death could have occurred when a herd of elephants came to the lake to drink water.
