Madikeri: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths visited Madikeri to investigate further on the DySP Ganapathi suicide case on November 14.

The CBI team led by ACP Kalaimani visited Vinayaka Lodge in the city and gathered information related to the incident.

The police officials, part of the initial investigation and doctors who performed autopsy were summoned to the lodge by the CBI officials to gather factual evidence related to the suicide case. They also collected the required documents and statements from Ganapathi’s brother M K Machaiah and witnesses Belliappa and Jagan. They later visited room No 315 where DySP Ganapathy allegedly hung himself.

Reportedly the forensic experts have recovered one of the three bullets, allegedly fired by the DySP on the bed using his revolver from this room.

The team is yet to speak to the loval TV channel that aired an interview of Ganapathi wherein the officer had made various accusations against Minister K J George and two senior police officers, Pranab Mohanthy and A M Prasad.

CBI sleuths were accompanied by forensic experts from Delhi during their visit.

The team’s visit comes in the wake of Supreme Court order dated September 5, where it directed the nation’s premier investigating agency to inquire into the controversial death case of DySP M K Ganapathy.

M K Ganapathy, DySP at IG office in Mangaluru was found hanging at Vinayaka Lodge in Madikeri on 7 July 2016. Before taking the extreme step, he had named a minister and senior IPS officers as responsible for his death
