Madikeri: The Madikeri District Congress Committee warned the Madikeri City Municipal Council of a protest, here on Wednesday, May 8, if it failed to repair the potholes on Ranipet road.

It has given a week’s deadline to the municipal council to complete the repair work.

Meanwhile, the public too has blamed the earlier municipal council administration and corporators of the ward for the pathetic road condition.

The Ranipet road not only provides connectivity to Field Marshal K M Cariappa College, Sri Muthappa Temple and Abbey Falls but also to several medical colleges here and Somwarpet.

Due to lack of maintenance, several potholes can be seen near the Sri Muthappa Temple, severely affecting the vehicular traffic on this road.

The District Congress Committee President K U Abdul has warned, “The tender and work order for the road repair from Ranipet to Muthappa Temple was sanctioned six months ago but not even a single pothole has been filled.”

“If the municipal council fails to do the needful in another weeks’ time, we will definitely protest”, he added.
