Madikeri: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kodagu warned of cancelling the allotted tenders of Mahila Supplementary Nutrition and Production Centres (MSTPC), if the concerned failed to deliver quality products on time under the state government sponsored “Mathrupurna” scheme.
Presiding over a district level meeting, DC Sreevidya said the two centres functioning in the district were duty bound to ensure quality supplies on time, failing which the staff would have to face action.
Anganawadi centres must display menu chart, make every attempt to grow vegetables in the premises subject to availability of space and distribute bananas to children, DC instructed.
Nutrimix products offered to children must be certified by authorised test centres and only after certification, the distribution must take place, DC said. Adequate packaging is a necessity, she added.
She instructed officials to ensure delivery of food products to pregnant and lactating mothers staying in hilly regions of the district at their doorsteps, as it would be difficult for them to reach the distribution points, she said.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Prashanth Kumar Mishra directed the vehicles transporting food and nutrition items to install GPS units immediately.
Asha and Anganwadi workers must keep tab on the health condition of all beneficiaries, said District Women and Child Welfare (DWCW) Officer Dr. Rajesh, speaking on the occasion.
Mathru Poorna scheme is meant to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women in rural areas. Under the programme, pregnant and lactating women in rural areas will get one nutritious meal daily for 25 days in a month.
