Madikeri: The District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) of Kodagu district have been successful in solving the case in which the decomposed body of a woman was recently found at Mallampati, in Arameri Village, Virajpet.
The deceased has been identified as Marzina Khatun. Her decomposed body was found on January 26, at Mallampati in Virajpet Rural Police Station limits. The police filed a case under IPC sections 302 and 201.
As per the directions of Superintendent of Police Dr. Suman D Pennekar, two teams were formed headed by DCIB Inspector and Circle Police Inspector (CPI) of Virajpet to solve the case.
Upon investigation the DCIB officials confirmed that Marzina was murdered by her husband Usman Ali. Usman, who hails from Assam, has been detained by the police.
Dr. Suman, speaking at a press conference, said “Merzina was the second wife of Usman. She was forcing him to get rid of his first wife and this has led to the murder.”
She said that Usman Ali, a resident of Dorang district of Assam, was working in an estate at Hegalla village in Virajpet.
DCIB Inspector M Mahesh, Virajpet Circle Inspector Kumar Aradya, Virajpet Rural Police Station PSI Suresh Bopanna, ASI K Y Hammid, B L Yogesh Kumar, M S Niranjan, K S Anil Kumar, V G Venkatesh, K R Vasantha, Virajpet rural police staff Belliappa, driver Shashikumar, Gopinath, M A Girish and C K Rajesh of CDR Cell comprised the team who helped solve the case.
As a token of appreciation Superintendent of Police Suman has announced cash prize for police officials and staff who helped solve the case.
“People from Assam and other states are working in coffee plantations throughout Kodagu district and it is mandatory to collect every detail and information about them. The police stations concerned should not be negligent in this matter,” said Dr. Suman.
