Madikeri: Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu Annies K Joy has ordered the evacuation of people residing in “vulnerable places” to relief centres as precautionary measures, after the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Authority predicted continuous rainfalls in Kodagu from June 20.

The nodal officers have been asked to make arrangements to move the residents from sensitive areas to relief centres in two to three days time.

The DC has said that the rent for three months will be handed over to the victims staying in rented accommodations, as per the list of beneficiaries.

She has further asked the authorities concerned to provide hostel facilities for students living in problematic areas during this period.

A pamphlet including precautionary measures is being circulated to the residents to create awareness and was released on Sunday.
