Madikeri: Congress has shifted 76 newly elected corporators to resorts in Madikeri in an attempt to avoid being wooed by the BJP party. The corporators have been shifted to the resorts for a period of three days till the day of mayoral election. Earlier, Congress had alleged that few corporators were offered money by the BJP and tried to poach them. Club Mahindra and Vivantha resorts have been booked for three days for the corporators.
Ramalinga Reddy said clarifying, “We trust corporators and hence they have been lodged in resorts due to BJP’s operation Kamala. We have not spent crores for stay in resorts. BJP is calling our alliance with JD(S) as unholy, what about BJP-JD(S) alliance then? Why did Sadananda Gowda meet Deve Gowda?”
JD(S) and Congress already have decided to support each other and prevent BJP from coming to power. Congress MLA S T Somashekar has been assigned the responsibility of hospitality and of keeping the flock together. Local Congress MLAs have discussed about future course of action.
JD(S) president HDK has declared unconditional support to the Congress for a better future for Bengaluru as well as in BBMP. The alliance of Congress-JD(S) with the support of independents, it’s almost confirmed that it will rule BBMP for next term. In the crucial BBMP elections, BJP won 100 seats, Congress 76 seats, JD(S) 14 seats and 8 independents along with MLCs, MLAs, members of state legislative assembly(Rajya Sabha), Vidhana Sabha and Parishad members in total 260 members come under Muncipal corporation.
Congress has won 76 seats and will have 100 members along with party MLAs and members of Vidhana Sabha and Parishad members. With the support of JD(S) and independents, their number will go upto 132 and both Mayor and Upa-mayor posts will go to the alliance.
