Madikeri : The Codava National Council ( CNC ) has demanded early deportation of the Rohingyas from the region, expressing fear that they pose a major threat to peace and stability of Kodagu. The Council has demanded both state and Central government to contain their free ride and ensure early deportation.

In a press release, CNC said, Rohingyas have made in roads into the district in the guise of Assamese labourers due to their similarity in physical appearance and are slowly getting involved in anti-social activities detrimental to peace and stability of the region, endangering age old Codava tribes.

The CNC accused them being agents of terror organizations like ISIS using their links with outfits like SDPI, KFD and PFI which are active in Kodagu.

Majority of them are employed in coffee curing units in and around Kushalnagar and are well spread in other parts of district taking up low paying jobs as servants, maids , cooks etc, alleged CNC.

Using local contacts they have managed to get all documents to prove their identity as citizens of India and are bound to pose threat to national security in the near future with their allegiance to outfits like Jamat-Ulema-e-Islam, ISIS and Maoists. , CNC alleged.

Backing the center which sought deportation of Rohingya through an affidavit in the Supreme court, the CNC claimed foreign funded NGOs and certain fundamental groups have allowed them to have a free run , depriving locals of legitimate livelihood.

Terming their stay in the country as illegal, the CNC demanded their deportation at the earliest.
