CM BSY directs officials concerned to submit report on Kodagu rejuvenation

Madikeri: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has directed the deputy commissioner and officials concerned to submit a detailed report on the 2018 Kodagu floods and proposal on the requirement of basic infrastructural facilities and road repairs.

In a meeting held at CM BSY’s official residence Krishna, on Tuesday, July 30 he said, “According to the estimation of rejuvenation of Kodagu, a sum of Rs 535 crore is required and for this, I would need a detailed report on necessities of basic infrastructure, housing and road construction/repair.”

“The district has incurred a loss of Rs 1400 crore. The Centre has sanctioned Rs 58 crore and the state government has sanctioned a special package of Rs 85 crore. Currently, Rs 535 Crore is required to construct the damaged national and state highways and road connectivity to urban and rural parts along with drain facilities,” he said and added that currently, houses are under construction for 842 people under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited at Karnangeri and Madapura at a cost of Rs 111 crore. With respect to basic facilities Rs 42.92 crore has been sanctioned already. In about three months, the houses under construction shall be ready.

Managing Director of Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited, Anbu Kumar said that already 200 houses were under construction by Infosys Foundation and in Sampaje, Seva Bharathi organization had come forward to construct 35 houses.

MLA K G Bopaiah, former MLA Appachu Ranjan, Adviser to Chief Minister M Lakshminarayana, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Dr E V Ramana Reddy and other officials were present.
