Madikeri: “Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has assured us that the government will not displace poor families without providing them with alternative facilities,” said president of Bahujan Karmika Sangha and state secretary of Bhoomi Mathhu Vasathi Hakku Vanchitara Horata Samithi K Monnappa.
Speaking to the media after meeting with the CM on Saturday, February 15, he said, “He (CM BSY) has assured us that he will not pass an order to displace the people of Balagodu and of other economically backward classes without providing alternative facilities. BSY had passed an order in this regard and now, he has directed the concerned officials to pass the order once again. He has also assured us that a high-level meeting would be called to settle the compensation matter for such people.”
Monappa also kept forth several demands in relation to the displacement issue.
Meanwhile, he informed that on February 18, veteran freedom fighter and social activist H S Doreswamy will visit Madikeri and bring the issues of the Balagodu people to the notice of the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner and also visit the Balagodu village to meet the people.
