Madikeri: Veteran politician A K Subbaiah raised a controversy on May 26, as he claimed that the post poll coalition between two secular parties Congress and the JDS was a victory for democracy against the BJP that “keeps itself warm by setting the society on fire.”
Speaking to the media here, Subbaiah congratulated H D Kumaraswamy on being chosen as the chief minister and said, “The people of the Karnataka are rejoicing the formation of a coalition government.”
The veteran leader, known for his anti-BJP stand, criticised the actions of BJP leader Yeddyurappa. He said, “It is unfortunate that B S Yeddyurappa has lost his mental balance after losing power.”
Reject ‘Karnataka Bundh’
Subbaiah denounced the call for “Karnataka Bundh” on May 28, issued by Yeddyurappa and said “The ‘bundh’ called by the leader of opposition B S Yeddyurappa is against democracy. Bundh is being used as a tool of revenge against political opponents and not in the interest of the farmers.” Further he alleged that the bundh was a nothing but an “anti-social activity”.
Yeddyurappa should be held responsible if any violence or loss to public and private property occurs due to the protests. He said, “I request all to boycott the unlawful and anti-social bundh.”
