Madikeri: The Kodagu District and Sessions Court Judge V Veerahadrappa has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment for murdering her husband in the forest of Tala Kaveri. The woman sentenced with life imprisonment is P Asha, a resident of Bengaluru. Public Prosecutor Krishnaveni argued the case.
About the case
Asha who was residing in Marenahalli of Vijayanagar in Bengaluru with her husband Lingaraju and her in-laws Patalamma and Marisomappa, had come to Tala Kaveri on June 24, 2016. Persuading her husband to have sex with her in Tala Kaveri forest region, Asha forced him to remove his shirt. After her husband laid down on the ground, she took out a knife from her vanity bag and slit his throat. After committing the murder, Asha boarded a private bus in Bhagamandala for Madikeri and from here, she went to her relatives’ house in Arsikere, Hassan.
The Tala Kaveri locals were shocked to discover a dead body with the throat slit in a sacred place. The Bhagamandala Police who registered a case and investigated, traced the location of the victim. The police during the investigation, got the footage of Asha and Lingaraju being together which was caught on CCTV camera.
Asha was arrested, a case was filed against her and a charge sheet submitted to the court. District and Sessions Court Judge V Veerahadrappa who conducted the trial, sentenced Asha to a life imprisonment and slapped a penalty of Rs 25,000 on her.
