Madikeri: T N Bhavani, a 21-year-old graduate girl from Kodagu has left impressions on Himalayan glaciers with sheer grit and determination, braving inclement weather and hostile terrain conditions.
Daughter of Tekkada Nanajunda Prabhu and Parvathi couple from Napoklu, a small town in Kodagu, Bhavani has many achievements to her credit before embarking on her mountaineering journey.
After completing her primary schooling from JC school in Srimangala , Bhavani joined Navodaya school in Galibeedu to complete her high school education. Graduate from St. Agnes college in Mangaluru, Bhavani is now working as an instructor at Himalayana Mountaineering institute, based in Darjeeling.
Ambitious right from school days, Bhavani was part of National Cadet Corps (NCC) battalion during Republic day parade at Rajpath in 2016. She has also taken part in a special training camp at Airforce station, based in Jodhpur.
Before joining the current institute, she underwent training in mountaineering at Atal Bihari Institute of Mountaineering based in Manali. She is the only candidate to merge victorious from the Himalayan Institute of mountaineering by overcoming most difficult obstacles to qualify as first grade trainee.
She has climbed many peaks in Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Leh and Manali and aims to scale of Gowrishankara Mountain in the Himalayan range, considered toughest for mountaineers.
Trained in Swimming, Horse raiding and Security operations Bhavani aims to serve Indian armed forces like her contemporaries from Kodagu to leave a lasting impression among her loved ones and well wishers.
