Somwarpet: Condenming the entry of women below the age of 50 into the Sabarimala sanctum, the Ayyappa devotees under the guidance of the ‘Hindu Jagarana Vedike’ staged a protest at Putappa Circle in Somwarpet. Devotees also conducted Ayyappa ‘bhajans.’

Protesters expressed their anguish, blaming Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, for supporting the entry of women in Sabarimala sanctum.

Speaking on the occasion, Darshan, convener of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, said, “History has not been created by the entry of the two 40-year-old women into the temple, instead, the law and order situation has worsened.”

He urged the pilgrims not to donate cash by any means to the Sabarimala temple, stating that the money donated by the devotees will only fill the treasury of the government and will not be used for the development of the temple.

Bannalli Gopal, Umesh, Nagaralli Ramesh, B R Mahesh, Ajay, Karkalli Ravi and many others participated in the protest.
