Madikeri: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and MLA for Madikeri constituency M P Appachu Ranjan has requested the government against cloud seeding in Kodagu district limits.
“The district has faced a lot of damage and loss in August 2018 due to heavy rains. Now the government has decided for cloud seeding. The weather department has forecast heavy rains this year, which might cause calamities in the district once again. It is not safe at this point to carry out cloud seeding,” said Appachu Ranjan.
“Also the chemicals used for cloud seeding will have harmful effects on plants, animals, humans and the soil. So I request the government to forgo cloud seeding in Kodagu district limits,” he added.
