Madikeri: In order to fill the lake beds and provide water to livestock, water will be released from Harangi dam through the main canal from July 21, the Cauvery Irrigation Board has disclosed.
The government has ordered the release of water just enough to cater to the drinking need of the people and livestock and filling of lake beds.
The superintendent engineer of the Kushalnagar circle irrigation board has clarified that the government will not be accountable for the loss of crops dependent on Harangi canal water
Compared to last year, there is a shortage of water by 90 percent in Harangi dam which has led the government to order the release of water into the main canal.
