Kundapura: While the Bharat Bandh called by 10 unions received mixed response in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the situation was the same in Kundapura city and town too here on Tuesday, January 8.
Some of the protestors had tried to forcefully shut down shops, during which they confronted a shopkeeper who said that he is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) party worker and that he would not bring the shutters down.
This incident was reported from Gujjadi of Byndoor town. A video playing the incident has gone viral
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he staunchly opposed the bandh and said that if they would protest for the betterment of the country, then he would give his complete support, but not for politically-motivated strikes.
He asked the protestors to oppose what was happening in Sabarimala, as the ministers including chief minister himself ate meat and entered the temple.
He questioned the protestors why the Communist party was not protesting against such an act.
“Do you have any humanity and positive thoughts towards building our nation? Try to inculcate these qualities”, said the shopkeeper.
He went on speaking about NDA's "achievements" since 2014, and asked the protestors to make a list of the developmental activities and growth achieved by the previous government and the Kerala government and compare.
The protestors retreat, as seen in the video.
This video has now gone viral on the social media and the BJP party too has made it a point to circulate this video nationwide.
