Serial thefts at Byndoor

Kundapur, Jul 8: Serial thefts took place at a village in Byndoor  on the night of July 7th.  These thefts took plaace in a commercial area. This type of theft had never occurred in the past.

Eight Commercial establishments were targeted by the thieves who decamped with valuables and cash. The shops they broke into  were located within an earshot of the local police station.   These include three jwellery shoos, an electronic shop, a medical shop, two wine shops and a hotel.

The thieves had removed the locks and shutters of these shops with the help of iron bars. The cost of the valuables and cash lost in these thefts, which is yet to be assessed, is estimated to run into several lakhs of rupees.

Cases relating to these thefts stand registered in Byndoor police station. Circle inspector Sudarshan, sub-inspector Santosh, apart from sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts from Udupi surveyed the area and collected details.
