Kundapur: The Byndoor unit of BJP organised a protest at the Arate Bridge on Thursday August 14th to condemn the sub-standard works on NH 66.

Addressing the protestors, Sadananda Sheregar, Chief Secretary , Byndoor unit of BJP said that the first showers revealed the sub-standard  works done as the cement layers have peeled off and several potholes have emerged on the stretch of the road. Sheregar also demanded the black listing of the contractor concerned for the poor quality of the work. Former standing committee president Kukanadu Chandrashekar Shetty also spoke on the occasion.

The protestors went on a procession and planted banana saplings in one of the potholes on the bridge. The protestors also said they will raise funds for the repair of the road if the authorities failed to do so. The protest blocked traffic on the Trasi-Tallur stretch for a few hours. The protestors were adamant that senior officials must meet them. Later the Tashildar arrived and assured that the matter will be brought to the notice of higher authorities.
