Koppal: A 25-year-old youth from Gangavathi in Koppal district has been arrested on charges of posting a morphed picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mohammed Mehboob, who works at a jewellery shop was arrested following a complaint by the BJP activists.
Mehboob had reportedly posted the morphed picture on his Facebook account on May 7. In the picture Modi was shown bowing to touch the feet of AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, the brother of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
BJP activists noticing the picture on Mehboob’s FB account complained to the police. The police have booked Mehboob under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code for promoting enmity between different communities.
However, during questioning, Mehboob told police that he did not personally morph the photograph and he had received the picture from his friends.
