Koppal: An initiative by Sandalwood star Yash to solve water woes of the farmers in Koppal has inspired several villagers after they saw the increased water level at a lake where rejuvenation works are in progress.
It may be recalled that Yash along with his wife Radhika had taken up the rejuvenation of a 96-acre lake in Tallur village of Yelburga taluk at a cost of Rs 4 Crore through his Yashomarga Foundation with the assistance of water experts and journalist Nagesh Hegde, Radhakrishna Bhadti and Shivananda Kalave.
The removal of silt began on February 28 at Tallur lake and their initiative has borne fruit as they are getting natural spring water. The water level has reached around 8 feet now and the villagers hope that after the completion of rejuvenation works, it can meet the water demands of around 10,000 people from the nearby areas of the lake.
Even the villagers come forward to support the actor with their tractors for the removal of the silt.
