Koppala: The Hyderabad-Karnataka region of the state, including Koppala, is facing the worst drought. Even a single drop of water is considered vital in the district. But on Wednesday, lakhs of litres of water collected in a farm pond in the Chikkanakoppa village of the Koppala taluk was emptied in a search attempt for missing youth. The search party was proved right when the youth’s body was found in the drained out pond.
According to the Koppala police, Indrappa Tallur (18), a resident of the village, went for a bath in a farm pond in the village on Wednesday noon. He is believed to have slipped while taking bath and drowned.
As the news spread that Indrappa was missing, the villagers decided to empty the farm pond to save him. They brought a pump set and emptied the pond. They were able to retrieve Indrappa’s body, which was stuck in the slush.
A case has been registered at the Koppal police station. Indrappa’s body was handed over to his family after a postmortem was conducted at the district hospital.
