Srimangala :Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed the Principal Secretary of the State Government to take all possible measures to protect and conserve the places of religious, cultural and traditional importance of Kodavas.
The Chief minister who spoke to a delegation from Kodagu led by Kokkalemaada Manju Chinna, Convenor of the United Kodava Organisation (UKO) at his office in the Vidhana Saudha, instructed Principal Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee to write to the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department to initiate necessary measures.
The delegation earlier apprised the Chief Minister that the several centres of religious and historical importance in Kodagu were facing fear of losing their existence due to the loopholes in the information documented under the RTC of the government.
The Chief Minister who noticed the Peeche Katti which the delegation members were wearing, enquired about it. He was informed that it was a traditional Kodava ornament.
The delegation included H Vishwanath, former MP, Machamada Aneesh Madappa, Nellamakkada Jaffrey Madayya, Puliyanda Satya Madappa, Machamada Aruna Somaiah and Kandera Vasantha Kumar, office bearers of UCO among others.
