Siddapura: Two youngsters drowned in Cauvery river near Dubare, when they ventured into deep waters while swimming on March 1.
Durga Prasad and Girish, both residents of Kambibane in Kodagu are the deceased.
Dubare is one of the renowned tourist locales of Kodagu in which the elephant training camp and Jungle Lodges resorts are located. Thousands of tourists flock the area throughout the year and some try to cross over, on their own without opting for motorised boats.
Several deaths have occurred in the past despite warning boards asking visitors not to swim in the area. Though the water levels deplete and strong currents disappear during this part of year, the irresistible desire of youth to flirt with danger costs lives, say the nearby residents.
