Madikeri: The police have tightened security in the district to prevent untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanthi celebration on November 10.
After the district witnessed violence in 2015, police had made elaborate arrangements to prevent the same last year. This year too, security is being beefed up in advance to rein in criminal elements to prevent violence.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) platoons along with additional police forces from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have already arrived in the district to help the district administration.
Superintendent of police Rajendra Prasad welcomed the police teams from the neighbouring states.
Policemen were visible at all places in the district as they started manning sensitive areas and keeping a close watch on the movement of the people and vehicles.
