Bengaluru: The tourist flow to the Malnad districts from Bengaluru and other places has started amid the Covid-19 scare.
On Sunday, Jog falls in Shivamogga, hill stations of Chikkamagalur and Kodagu witnessed a huge inflow of traffic.
According to the sources, over 18,000 tourists visited Jog falls in Shivamogga.
Similarly, Kodagu witnessed a huge influx of tourist. In Chikkamagalur, traffic congestion was reported in the city with over 1,340 tourist vehicles entering the city in a single day.
Even though the tourist inflow is considered as healthy booster for the local economy, which is severely hit by the Covid-19, the fear of Covid 19 infection spread also caused worry among many.
With none of the Malnad districts having any sophisticated medical facilities, locals want the tourism to be regulated till the normalcy returns.
