Kodagu: Heavy rains in the district claimed one life on Thursday evening.
A tree fell over a house due to heavy rains killing a young woman and leaving her toddler injured.
The deceased is Rehmath, 22 from Palibetta in Virajpet taluk. Her 1.5-year-old toddler named Nazal has miraculously escaped with injuries.
The locals are blaming the local Devarapura Gram Panchayat for the tragedy because the family had reportedly requested the Panchayat to axe the old tree that was inclining over Rehmath’s house in a precarious manner and the Panchayat paid no heed to the requests.
