Kodagu :Heavy rains are continuing to lash Kodagu district with links to Bagamandala-Talacauvery, Madikeri-Napoklu roads cut off due to overflowing Cauvery river. Traffic towards several rural areas too have been disrupted, hitting hard normal life in the region.
Cauvery river is also overflowing on the road at Bolinane on the Moornadu-Napoklu road hitting traffic on the route. There have also been reports of landslides and damage to houses due to heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
The district administration and the PWD are engaged in relief operations on a war footing.
There is information of the collapse of the wall of the house of a person named Kariya in Garagandur village near Suntikoppa. The loss has been estimated at Rs 30,000. Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident. Local Gram Panchayat President Devappa, Vice President Renuka and other officials visited the spot.
Three houses in Tyagaraja Colony and Azad Nagar were also damaged due to landslides. However there is no report of any casualty.
