Kodagu: District DC Annies Kanmani Joy has banned vehicular movement on the Virajpet-Makuta road following occurrences of landslides in the area. The newly constructed road developed cracks in several places making it unfit for the movement of vehicles.
The DC visited the area early in the morning with officials of the PWD and other government agencies and issued an order banning the movement of vehicles between the Perumbadi and Makuta check posts till the road is repaired.
According to the locals, the road sank in and developed cracks in the wee hours of Monday, August 5. Vehicle drivers who noticed the cracks alerted the district control room about the same.
