Voting is fundamental right, register by Jan 8: DC Dr Harishkumar

Karwar: Deputy Commissioner Dr Harishkumar has informed that the registration for the voters’ list draft and alterations should be made by January 8 in the respective polling booths by January 8.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, January 7, he said, “The process of change in name, address and other necessary documents, as well as registration for voter ID for those who have attained the age of 18 and above, can be done in their respective polling booths. The registration process for voter IDs is carried out to make the citizens of the country aware that voting is a fundamental right that needs to be exercised. Once they register, they can vote from any state or constituency that they work,” he added.

Dr Harishkumar said that the final voters’ list will be out on February 4. He informed that the registration process with the correct documents can be conducted under the guidance of the Booth Level Officers (BLO).
