Karwar: The weather department, as a precautionary measure, has alerted the fishermen from the Uttara Kannada district not to venture out into the sea for fishing, owing to the effects of Cyclone Fani that is currently ravaging the east coast of the country.
The cyclone is expected to change the weather in the district. Along with heavy rains and gusty winds, the seas are also expected to be rough, which can pose a serious risk to the lives of the fishermen if they are to venture out into the sea at the wrong time.
P Nagaraj, deputy director of the Fisheries Department in Karwar has said that the weather department has alerted the fishermen to take precautionary measures and abstain from going out into the sea.
