Karwar: Dejected over a demotion, a deputy Tahshildar ended life at Pala village of Mundagod taluk on Thursday.
The deceased is Jagdish Chalavadi.
It is said that Chalavadi was working as a revenue inspector in Mundagod and was later transfered to Banavasi as Deputy Tahshildar in the same taluk.
However, with a recent Supreme Court order striking down seniority in promotions awarded to SC/ST employees by the state and over 20,000 government employees belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes categories being demoted in March in a bid to implement the order, Chalavadi came as one of the several persons who came in the bracket.
Chalavdi, who insulted by his demotion as Village Accountant resorted to the extreme step of ending life, said sources.
Mundagod police have registered a case.
