Karwar: In all 7 coronavirus deaths in the district over the past 24 hours is a matter of concern. A total of 890 cases were detected in a single day. With this, the total number of cases in the district has crossed 20,000.
The highest number of cases were reported from Sirsi taluk with 153 cases of corona infection. Three taluks including Sirsi have crossed the century mark with 136 cases reported in Karwar and 125 cases in Ankola.
Among other taluks, Siddapur 92, Mundagod 85, Honnavar 74, Yellapura 73, Haliyala 62, Kumta 59 and Bhatkal have reported 31 cases. Only in Joida so far, no cases have been detected. With these 890 cases, the total number of Covid infections in the district has increased to 20,238. A total of 16973 people including 176 discharged on Sunday May 2 have been cured so far.
Among the victims, four are from Haliyal, two are from Karwar and one from Honnavar, thus increasing the number of deaths from corona in the district to 230.
There are 3035 active covid cases in the district out of which 2612 are in home isolation and the remaining 423 are being treated at various Covid centers in the district.
