Karwar: “The state government is working beyond its limits and capacity in order to help those affected by the floods. We welcome the initiative of various organizations who have already joined hands with the government in the relief operations,” said Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
He was addressing the media at the district guest house after taking the blessings of Goddess Sri Sateri Devi in the Hankon village. “I pray that everything goes well for the people of the state. I have not only prayed for the flood victims of the district, but also for the state as a whole, as other parts were also affected by floods. I also pray that peace prevails. The government will do everything possible to help the flood victims,” he assured.
“The report on the flood-affected areas has been submitted to all the concerned people in the government. Immediate response has been achieved. I’ve spoken with concerned ministers, deputy commissioners, and officials. Relief operations that has to be done from the administration’s side has been brought to my notice,” he added.
Speaking about the development of the Uttara Kannada district, Kageri said, “It is for the first time that the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker’s post has been given to this district. I’m ready to bring it to the attention of the government whatever developmental projects need to be initiated. I’ll perform my duties promptly.”
Meanwhile, when asked about the Vokkaliga community protest against D K Shivakumar’s arrest, he said, “I pray to the Goddess to bestow everyone with a good state of mind.”
