Karwar: Siddaramaiah has spoken in such a manner that he has disrespected India’s freedom fighters, said Karnataka Minister for Tourism, Kannada and Culture C T Ravi.

Addressing the reporters during his visit to Karwar in the Uttara Kannada district on Saturday, October 19, Ravi said, “He (Siddaramaiah) does not know anything about the history of India’s freedom struggle. It is not appropriate for a former chief minister to disrespect our country’s freedom fighters.

“If Siddaramaiah visited the jail cells and learned the story of that time, then his attitude towards the freedom fighters would change.”

It can be recalled that former CM Siddaramaiah had called Savarkar a murderer and slammed the Centre for posthumously awarding him the Bharat Ratna, during his visit to Mangaluru on Friday, October 18.

Responding to the Congress party’s criticism of the newly-appointed heads of culture academies, C T Ravi said, “We have not appointed those who speak against the country. When the Congress party was in power, they used to appoint people who believed that Kashmir should secede from India. We have only appointed those whom we saw fit.”

Commenting on the farmer protests over the Kalsa Banduri Water Project, the minister said, “We have not neglected the farmers in the Mahadayi movement. We are working to legally solve the Mahadayi struggle. Politics is different from the farmers’ struggle. We are always in support of the farmers.”
