Karwar: The Honnavar court issued summons to Premlatha, her husband Divakar Shastri and five others including C M Krishnashastri in connection with Ramachandrapura Matt seer Shri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji blackmail case.
Following the rejection of B report filed by CID, Honnavar court directed filing criminal cases against seven including Premalatha, her husband Divakar Shastri, C M Krishnashashtri, CMN Sastri, Gangadhar Shastri, public prosecutor B T Venkatesh and B Padmanabha Sharma.
The court decision comes in the wake of documents in its possession following the rejection of “B” report filed by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on January 29.
In addition, all the seven accused have been summoned by the court to appear for the next hearing.
Premalata couple, arrested in blackmail case had admitted of their attempt to blackmail Ramachandrapura Matt seer by making false accusations against him and accordingly a charge sheet was filed against them.
Court felt, despite strong evidence against the seven, there was an attempt to shut the case by submitting the B report. The trial court has now initiated the criminal proceedings against seven after taking cognisance of the matter.
