RaGa receives tumultuous welcome in Ankola,begins 2-day electioneering tour

Karwar: Congress President received tumultuous welcome on his arrival in Ankola town during his first visit to the region for a two-day electioneering tour of the state.

Accompanied by senior Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi sought votes for party candidate Satish Sail.

Around 15000 people took part in the road show which began on Karwar road and passed through Bendi Bazar, Kittur Chennamma Circle and Jai Hind Circle in Ankola town.

He is scheduled to take part in corner meetings and road shows at Kumta, Honnavar towns later in the day. He will address a public meeting at Bhatkal town in the evening before winding his day’s schedule at Murudeshwar.

The Uttara Kannada police led by Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil have made elaborate security arrangements for the Congress president and his entourage during his visit to the district.

KPCC President G Parameshwara, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress State In-charge K C Venugopal, leader B K Hariprasad, ministers Mahadevappa, R V Deshpande, KPCC General Secretary Manickam, Secretary Goaplakrishna Naik, Prashanth Deshpande are accompanying Rahul Gandhi during the campaign.

He was earlier received at Hubballi airport after he arrived in a special flight where Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, ministers D K Shivakumar, H K Patil were present along with KPCC Chief G Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
