Honnavar: An employee of a private company who was on a one-day-trip to the coastal city was swept out to sea at Apsarakonda located in Honnavar town, Uttar Kannada district, here on Monday, December 10.
The deceased is identified as Raghuveer Kadiyappa (26), a resident of Bhadravati.
Raghuveer was an employee of Galfar Company in Shivamogga.
According to the sources, when all his colleagues returned to the bus that had been arranged for the picnic, Raghuveer yet again went to take a dip, during which a wave struck him and swept him out to the sea.
When his colleagues started shouting for help, some nearby villagers Manjunath, Ramachandra, Rajesh, Yashwanth and others dived into the sea to rescue Raghuveer.
By then Raghuveer had already breathed his last.
The Coast Guard and police personnel visited the spot and conducted an inquest.
A case has been filed in the Manki Police Station.
