Karwar: Regarding the widening of National Highway 66 (17) and disbursing compensation, Deputy Commissioner of Karwar district N S Nakul has issued red notice to all the landowners of five taluks asking them to furnish their land documents in order to receive compensation. He also cautioned of acquiring the land without issuing any prior notice, if the land owners failed to furnish the essential documents.
Earlier, the deputy commissioner had issued notices and asked the landowners of Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal taluks to furnish the documents. However, most of the landowners in these taluks did not submit the documents, which prevented the district administration from going ahead with national highway widening and disbursement of the compensation.
Hence, DC N S Nakul issued final (red) notice to all the land losers and asked them to furnish essential documents to the special officer of land acquisition immediately. If the landowners fail to furnish the documents, the lands will be acquired as per National Highway Act, he cautioned.
