Karwar: As thousands of flood victims remained stranded at various locations, the navy has disbursed basic requirements like food, medicine etc through a helicopter, on Saturday, August 10.
Though there was a plan to disburse these items on Friday itself, it was not possible due to unfavourable weather condition. Hence, food packets and medicines were disbursed to the flood victims at Kalleshwara, Heggara, Ramanaguli, Kaigani and other surrounding areas of Ankola taluk in Karwar district.
Despite bad weather on Saturday as well, navy disbursed around 225 kgs of ration and medicines to the victims. This operation was launched under the name of ‘Hello Operation’, informed Ajay Kapoor, PRO of INS Kadamba.
