Karwar : The Uttara Kannada district administration has finally decided to drop Union minister Ananth Kumar Hegde’s name from the official invitation for the Tipu Jayanthi celebrations on Nov 10.
After remaining clueless for a while, it approached the chief secretary of the state government to suggest solution. The chief secretary in response informed the UK district administration to exclude the names of elected representatives in special cases , in case they opt for the same, deviating from the existing set protocol.
Though the protocol suggests that the names of elected representatives including Members of Parliament and area legislators have to be included, but in special cases they can be excluded to accommodate the wishes of those seeking such exclusion, stated Dr. B S Manjunatha Swamy in response to UK dist administration’s query.
Accordingly the DC issued orders to eliminate the name of the MP from the invitation list to clear the confusion over the burning issue. Other district administrations may follow suit to ensure peaceful celebrations.
