Karwar: A district special court has sentenced a 10-year life imprisonment to a man for abducting a minor girl and taking her to Goa.
The convicted is identified as Dinesh Tukarama Mirashi of Ramanagar, Joida Taluk, who is currently held in the district central prison. On March 28, 2018, a woman filed a complaint at Ramanagar police station that her 14-year-old daughter was abducted. Later, under the guidance CEN, the then District Superintendent of Police and Assistant Superintendent of Police, rescued the girl from Goa on October 9,2018. Dandeli Police Assistant sub-inspector had filed a charge sheet under POSCO.
After a lengthy trial, the district special court ruled that the accused was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine. Special prosecutor Subhash Kairanna argued in favor of the government.
