In Uttara Kannada, the counting will be held in Dr A V B Baliga College in Kumta Taluk.
The district administration is taking extra precautions to prevent any incident leading to the disruption of peace in the area as there are a few communally sensitive areas in the district.
A clash is anticipated between the supporters of the winning and the losing party after the results are announced.
The DC said that taking into consideration the current situation in the district, and ensure smooth completion of the counting, Section 144 was imposed.
The prohibitory order restrains people from forming a group of more than five people except in the counting centres and carrying any weapon like knife, stick, sword or any other item which may cause physical harm to someone.
Processions, protests or meetings have to take prior permission from the police stations concerned.
The political parties are prohibited from gathering supporters in the district centres. This prohibition is not applicable to any government programmes or meetings, clarified DC Dr Harish Kumar.
