Karwar: Two girls who had left their house owing to the torture meted upon them by their stepmother, were rescued by the Railway Protection Force sleuths from Karwar on Wednesday late night.

The two minor girls had boarded Mangalore Express from Mumbai. The girls were handed over to Child Welfare Committee members after being rescued.

The girls said that they had boarded the train from Panvel. Meanwhile, it is said that a lady who spotted the two kids without any adult with them tried to lure and take them away. On noticing the same, an alert passenger intimated the railway police about the same.

The Karwar RPF rushed to the spot and then contacted their father Abdul Raheem, who informed that he had lodged a missing complaint with Shivajinagar police on Tuesday.

They have been lodged at Karwar in an accommodation for rescued children in the district.
