Karwar: A man from Mundagodu, here lost over Rs 11 lakh to a fake company that advertised on Facebook about supplying essential commodities at cheaper rates.

Chandrashekar Gurusiddappa Kumbara from Nehru Nagar in Mundagodu has a general store. He had spotted an advertisement on FB about a supplier who sends daily commodities at a cheaper rate and had contacted the company, which promised to send several commodities including instant noodles at a much lesser cost. The company initially asked for a payment of Rs 17,000 to place an order, which Chandrashekar did.

When the consignment did not reach him, Chandrashekar called the company again. After this, the company representatives swindled Rs 11.89 lakh from him phase by phase.

After payment of this amount, the company representatives are elusive now.

Chandrashekar has filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered.
